Spring is beautiful, with flowers blooming and trees turning green. But for many people, spring also brings 花粉症 (huāfěn zhèng – hay fever) and 过敏 (guòmǐn – allergies)! If you find yourself sneezing every time you go outside, it's important to know how to explain how you feel in Chinese.
Let's learn some essential phrases for allergy season!

1. "I Have Allergies" – The Basics
The most important phrase to learn is how to tell someone you have allergies.
I have allergies. 我过敏。(Wǒ guòmǐn.)
I am allergic to pollen. 我对花粉过敏。(Wǒ duì huāfěn guòmǐn.)
I have hay fever. 我有花粉症。(Wǒ yǒu huāfěn zhèng.)

The structure 对...过敏 (duì... guòmǐn) is super useful. You can put almost anything in the middle!
我对猫过敏。(Wǒ duì māo guòmǐn.) I'm allergic to cats.
我对海鲜过敏。(Wǒ duì hǎixiān guòmǐn.) I'm allergic to seafood.

2. Describe Your Symptoms 症状 (Zhèngzhuàng)
When allergies hit, you experience specific symptoms. Here's how to describe them:
I keep sneezing. 我一直打喷嚏。(Wǒ yīzhí dǎ pēntì.)
My nose won't stop running. 我一直流鼻涕。(Wǒ yīzhí liú bítì.)
