One of the best things about living in China is the food delivery service. With just a few taps on your phone, you can have almost anything delivered to your door in 30 minutes or less.
Whether you're craving hot pot, pizza, or even groceries, delivery apps have you covered. Here's how to use them like a local.

First, you'll need to download one of the main delivery apps. The most popular ones are Meituan (美团 Měituán) and Ele.me (饿了么 È le me). Both apps are available in English, but using the Chinese version will give you more options and better deals.
Once you've downloaded the app, follow these steps:
Set up your account: You'll need to enter your phone number and verify it with a code. Then, add your delivery address (收货地址 shōuhuò dìzhǐ) and payment method. Most apps accept Alipay (支付宝 Zhīfùbǎo) and WeChat Pay (微信支付 Wēixìn Zhīfù).
Browse restaurants: The app will show you restaurants near your location. You can filter by cuisine (菜系 càixì), price, rating, and delivery time. Look for restaurants with high ratings (4.5 stars or above) and fast delivery times.
Place your order: Add items to your cart (购物车 gòuwùchē) and proceed to checkout. You can add special instructions (备注 bèizhù) for the restaurant, like "no spicy" (不要辣 búyào là) or "extra rice" (多加米饭 duō jiā mǐfàn).
Track your order: Once you've placed your order, you can track the delivery driver's location in real-time. The app will send you notifications when your order is accepted, prepared, and on its way.
Receive your order: When the driver arrives, they will call or message you. Most drivers will meet you at the entrance of your building, but some will deliver directly to your door.
